1. What this is about
These terms apply to the insiegel app and to this website. The provider is Seihan Kahirov, Wittenberger Straße 44, 12689 Berlin. The full details are in the Legal Notice. You agree to the terms when you create an account in the app. The app points you to these terms with a link when you do.
2. What insiegel does
- You set tasks and time windows. During a time window, insiegel places a lock overlay over every app on your Android device. Phone and emergency calls, Messages, Contacts, Files, Settings, and apps you choose yourself stay available.
- Before the window ends, proof opens the lock: a photo, steps, a place, a timer, a value, or a checkbox. The device measures steps, place, and time. insiegel cannot check whether a value or a checkbox is correct. That remains your own statement. The same applies to a photo without the AI check. With the AI check (not yet active), an AI estimates whether a photo or a place fits the task. It can be wrong. A wrong verdict is not a defect of the app. You can try again, at most five times per task and at most 30 times a day in total, of which ten times for places. The AI check is part of Premium (Section 8).
- With a partner, you hand over the second key. Then a lock in the app can be loosened, skipped, or deleted only with their approval. The partner lock is part of Premium (Section 8).
- At the end of the time window, the lock ends on its own.
- Your tasks are synced with your account so that you can find them again on a new device. Details are in the Privacy Policy.
3. Honest limits
- insiegel is a commitment you make to yourself, not a vault. Anyone who ends the service with Force stop in Android Settings, uninstalls the app, or technically modifies the device ends the protection. No app can prevent that.
- Without a partner, you can skip a task yourself. In the free tier, this is always the case, because the partner lock is part of Premium.
- Android can end the service in the background, for example through battery optimization. Then the lock does not appear. How you prevent this is explained in Support.
- insiegel is currently available only for Android.
- insiegel is still being developed. There may be bugs, and features may change.
4. Not an emergency tool and not therapy
- Phone and emergency calls stay available during a lock. Even so, never rely on an app working correctly in an emergency.
- Do not set a lock for times when you need your phone for work, for the care or supervision of other people, or for your safety. You decide when insiegel locks.
- insiegel is not a medical device and does not replace advice or treatment. If your phone use weighs heavily on you, talk to a doctor or a counseling service.
5. Only for you and from age 16
- Use insiegel only on your own device and only for yourself. insiegel is not a parental control app and not a tool to monitor or restrict other people.
- You must be at least 16 years old. From age 16, you can consent to the processing of your data yourself in Germany under Art. 8 GDPR, the EU General Data Protection Regulation.
- You may buy Premium from age 18. If you are younger, you need the consent of a parent or guardian, because a subscription is a contract that minors generally cannot enter into on their own.
- Your partner helps you voluntarily. Whether and when they give approval is their own decision. If they cannot be reached, the lock ends at the latest with the time window.
6. Your account
- You need an account for insiegel, with email and password, with Google, or with Apple. Keep your sign-in details secret.
- You can delete your account at any time: in the app under Settings, section Account, Delete account, or by email to support (at) insiegel.com. If a partner lock is active, the route in the app needs your partner’s approval. The partner lock is part of Premium (Section 8). The email route is always open to you. The steps are on the “Delete account” page.
- We may suspend or delete an account if it is misused, for example to disrupt our servers. Where it is reasonable, we tell you beforehand.
7. What is not allowed
- Using insiegel to monitor other people without their knowledge.
- Disrupting or overloading our servers or the cloud database, or trying to get to other users’ data.
- Copying or selling the app, or offering it as your own product.
8. Costs, Premium, and refunds
- During the beta, insiegel is free with all features.
- After that, there is a free tier and a paid Premium tier. The app shows you what stays free and what Premium costs before every purchase.
- Premium has no free trial. Payment starts with the purchase.
- Free are the hard lock and the proof types checkbox, timer, and value. Premium includes more lock windows and tasks, the proof types photo, steps, and place, the AI check, longer stats, and the partner lock. The partner lock includes pairing with a partner, changing your partner, the partner PIN, and the setting “Loosen only with partner approval”. Restoring an existing pairing on a new device is free, but only with your current partner.
- Purchases and subscriptions run through Google Play. If you buy in the European Economic Area, Google is the seller and your contracting party for the purchase and payment. The terms of Google Play also apply.
- Prices, billing periods, and currency are shown in the Play Store. Before you buy, Google Play shows you the final price, including VAT in the EU. Which billing periods exist can change, and not everyone sees the same offers.
- A subscription renews automatically for the same billing period until you cancel it. You can cancel at any time in Google Play under Subscriptions, also from the app through Manage subscription. The subscription then runs until the end of the period you paid for. Uninstalling the app or deleting your account does not cancel a subscription.
- If the price of a running subscription changes, Google Play tells you beforehand.
- If Premium ends, for example because your canceled subscription runs out, the partner lock ends too. If a lock with a partner is running at that moment, it can still be lifted as usual: with the proof, with the partner code, or when the time window ends. All later locks no longer need a partner code, including those for tasks you set up with Premium. The simple lock of the free tier applies then. Your existing locks stay in effect. You can then no longer set up new Premium features. If you take out a new subscription after Premium has ended, your previous partner lock applies again right away, with no new setup. Remove partner lock needs your partner’s approval even without Premium.
- Offers: Sometimes we offer Premium on special terms, for example during the beta. Offers are limited in time. The terms that we publish with the offer on the “Support” page apply.
- Withdrawal: As a consumer, you generally have a right of withdrawal of 14 days when you buy digital content and services. If you buy in the EEA through Google Play, Google, as the seller, informs you about this during the purchase. For digital content, the right of withdrawal can expire early if you agree that performance starts immediately and confirm that you thereby lose your right of withdrawal (Section 356(5) BGB). If you live outside the EU, the mandatory rights of your country to withdraw from a purchase also apply.
- Refund: You request a refund through Google Play. If something does not work as described, write to us at support (at) insiegel.com. Your statutory rights in case of defects remain unaffected.
9. Your content and our app
- Your tasks, photos, and notes belong to you. We use them only to operate insiegel for you, and never to train an AI. More on this in the Privacy Policy.
- The app and its content come from us or our licensors. You get a non-exclusive, non-transferable right to use insiegel for yourself.
10. Liability
- We are liable without limitation for intent and gross negligence, for injury to life, body, or health, under the German Product Liability Act (Produkthaftungsgesetz, ProdHaftG), and to the extent that we have given a guarantee.
- In cases of slight negligence, we are liable only if we breach an essential contractual obligation, the fulfillment of which you may rely on. In that case, liability is limited to the typical, foreseeable damage.
- In all other respects, our liability for slight negligence is excluded.
11. Changes
We may change these terms when the app, the legal situation, or our service providers change. We announce significant changes at least 30 days in advance in the app or by email. If you do not agree, you can delete your account beforehand and cancel a subscription.
12. Law and dispute resolution
- German law applies. If you are a consumer with your habitual residence in another country, you keep the protection of the mandatory provisions of that country.
- We are neither willing nor obliged to take part in dispute resolution proceedings before a consumer arbitration board.
